Stampin' Up! Christening Card

I was so honoured when my friend announced he's going to be a God Dad and wanted me to make a card for the occasion. Now normally when it comes to cards like this, I tend to print out some personalised details on the 'pooter. Sadly - my printer is having 'printer' issues at the moment. So not wanting to let Mr Ginger Jo down, I set about my mission.

Yes I know, Stampin' Up! have the MOST perfect stamp set for Christenings - 'My Special Day', which my lovely downline Tracy had offered me the use of - but I'd said no because I was going to use my printer. So in the end.......

Yep that's right I made a box! With a card inside:

I was going to leave the photos at just this because I have to be honest and admit my stamping may be a teeny weeny bit wonky - but then I decided it just adds to the character and to share:

I've used Marina Mist, Pacific Point and Whisper White. Without my Stamp-ma-jig this card would have been doomed, I even drew pencil lines in first in the hope of being really neat! The letters in the name are all stamped individually using Just Perfect Alphabet. Be gentle with me and just pretend the 't' and the 'e' in Christening look straight to you! See sometime's even though Stampin' Up! provide us with the best tools to create with, sometimes I just don't get it right.

I've used a double sentiment from Petite Pairs which if had gone wonky would have made me cry.

The die cut frame is one of a set of four Lots of Tags and layered with 1 1/4" and 1" punched circles. the little face is one of the cuties from All In The family, I even phoned my friend first to see is Samuel had straight or curly hair 'cos you have to get these things right.

I added 'it's your' and 'day' from It's Your Day before and after christening'. A handy little set we got at Stampin' Up! European Convention last year. To add a bit more, the bottom half of the card is embossed with Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

Finally, the inside. Decorated to match using another sentiment from Petite Pairs, which reads 'I'm here for you no matter what' which I think sums up the rules of being a God parent.

So my Captain Chaos and Major Mayhem have been succesfully deployed to their grandparents leaving me in peace to get some tidying up done before Hubby gets home from work. Happy St Patrick's day if you're celebrating!

Feelin Fruity

I have to thank Chrisse and Mandi this morning over at Less is More as I've been struggling with my mojo this week. They've set us the challenge of Feeling Fruity and straight away I knew what I wanted to make.

I generated the sentiment on the PC as I couldn't find anything suitably daft to go with my Strawberry buddy! I used Pristina font for the 'berry' and Calibri for the rest. I find printing straight on to Whisper White card works really well and the ink doesn't smudge either. Next I stamped the strawberry from Tart n Tangy in Poppy Parade and added arms and legs in Garden Green from All in the Family. I stamped the strawberry twice more in garden Green and cut out the leaf part. Then a girlie head from All in the Family and stuck it all down. I think ideally a bit of masking and over stamping would have worked better but i have run out of post it notes!

Can't wait to see all the fruity creations, what a fun challenge!

Monogram Daddy

Boy am I glad for the Less is More challenge this morning. I've been wondering and wondering what to create for a Fathers Day card for james from the boys. Their theme is Monogram and it helped me out lots!

The sun is casting shadows everywhere this early so I had to nip in to the kids sand play house in my pj's to snap this! I've used Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise as my colours and my featured monogram is the letter 'D' from the Varsity alphabet set. I masked the 'D' off after I'd stamped it and then overstamped with the little boy from All in the Family and then added the baby at the end. Of course I had to add the sentiment somewhere too so it's inside:

 

Perfect sentiment from the level one hostess set Celebrations in the mini catalogue.

Can't hang around - it's breakfast time now - or hungry time as Zac calls it!

Birthday boy and a busy day

Ooh it's been a busy but fun day and I'm very ready to put my feet up now and relax. Thanks to everyone who stopped by my stand at the show today, it was so lovely to see you all.

I have a card to share with you today for one of Zac's school friends who is four tomorrow:

I've used a mix of products on here including Celebrations papers and accent stickers and Bday party rubs ons. The letters and number have been die cut with the Big Shot Timeless type Alpha dies, perfect sized letters for cards I think. Here's the inside to match:

Had to smuggle in All in the Family stamps somewhere! Would you like a look at my stand? I'm going to show you anyway! Here it is all calm and almost set up early this morning:

 

And here is my fabby downline Tracy setting up the Make and take area - shortly before about 30 ladies dived on her to have a go!!!!

You're as young as you feel

I was having a chat with a good friend of mine last week about our birthdays and our ages and we both decided we're still very young at heart. Ms Sugar is a massive fan of anything pink so I made her a little girl's card instead of a grown up one!

I've used a variety of pinks including Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose mixed with Crumb Cake. The giant cake is paper pieced using Big Bold Birthday. The pink birthday girl was stamped using All in the Family with a crown from Every Little Bit. The heart balloons are stamped with I {Heart} Hearts and punched out with Heart to Heart punch. I chose the sentiment from the level one hostess set Afterthoughts. What a combination on one card! I decorated the inside to match:

 

The present is a combination of Playful Pieces (Level 3 hostess set) and Big Bold Birthday. I know I'm safe to blog this now as Susie has her card!

Had a fun afternoon with the boys and Zac's best friend Aimee and her Mum. It stayed dry after lunch for us to play out in the garden and nowmy bubbas are shattered - yey!

In Colour Baking

Boo-hiss we've now all got coughs and sore throats in this house. Zac is home from school and didn't get to go dressed up but I'll share more of that with you tomorrow. Earlier this week I did a spot of baking. Mainly because I thought I'd try my hand at some dairy free goodies for Blake to enjoy. He didn't by the way!

Anyway said baked goods inspired me to create this:

I wanted to go for a blueberry look and rather than turn to the Blueberry Crisp DSP which looks more denim to me, I opted for Concord Crush. So the large spotty paper is from the level one hostess gift In Colour DSP stack teamed up with coordinating Concord Crush Stitched Poly ribbon (flippin' eck do you get plenty on the reel!). Then to create my blueberry (not to be confused with blue jelly) girl I stamped the sweet from Something Sweet in Concord Crush and created the girl by using All in The Family in Crumb Cake and Concord Crush. Had to use Crumb Cake as I'd been baking you see. To make it look a bit more like a sweet, I added Crystal Effects over the ink to create a raised and glazed look:

The sentiment is stamped from Something Sweet too and popped in a Hodgepodge frame and held in place with rhinestone brads from Circle Fire:

I used Crystal Effects again on the sweet in the centre. So do you want to see the fruits of my labour? I'm going to share anyway.....

I thought I'd share the various stages of baking, I was so worried they wouldn't rise or that they'd be like bricks when they came out of the oven, but no. They are fluffy, light and just scrummy and gooey where the blueberries have cooked.

Here's a yummy close up and the photo that inspired my card:

Blake will eat the cakey parts of the muffins but picked out all the blueberries - how typical is that? If you'd like the recipe you can find it HERE. I substituted the soya milk in the recipe for oat milk and didn't add the lime juice.

Team Jelly Business Kits

I'm thrilled to say that during January and February, I have been lucky enough to recruit........
12 new members to Team Jelly. So there are now 15 of us (Lynda and Jacqueline signed together)! I've been busy over the last few weeks getting some business kits together for my lovely ladies and now that they are finished and en route in the post or ready to collect or deliver I can share them with you!

Firstly a thank you card from me:

The base is Melon Mambo, teamed with Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White. I've made my team logo here using the jelly bean from Something Sweet and the body parts from All in the Family! I'll be re-desiging my blog with this soon. I did print the sentiment on the PC as the alphabet stamps I have are all a bit large for a card this size!

March Frenzy is here!!

I love this photo, it's of me and my Mum on her 60 something birthday in Torrox, Spain. Mum lives in Spain with my Step Dad so vistiting is always fun! I've used Basic Black card, Brights and Neutrals DSP, All in the Family stamps, and of course the Hidden Garden Blossom rub ons - don't they look fab against the patterned papers?

This photo always makes me smile, it's me and James when I was pregnant with Zac chilling out on my Mum's roof terrace in Frigiliana. I've used the rub ons again down the black card and onto the photo and also as a little feature in the punched circles next to my journalling. Here are the layouts together:

Get Well Gangan

My Father in law is still in the emergency assessment unit at hospital but is starting to show some improvements. The boys aren't allowed to go to visit him as under 12's aren't permitted access to the unit. So we (ahem 'I') made this card for him:

Zac never used to be able to say Grandad so we settled for Gangan and it's stuck! The little fellas are stamped from the All in the Family set and coloured with inks and the aqua brush. The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point using the Just Perfect alphabet set.

We'll be using All in the Family tonight at my monthly scrap booking class and will share some projects from it with you tomorrow, plus I'll be running a monthly scrap book challenge too with a yummy prize up for grabs so please pop back tomorrow to see how you can join in.

Can'ts top this afternoon as Zac has been feeling unwell today, Hubby has just come home from work early to help out so fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.

Before, after and a card for Alex

Firstly I have to thank Mary for being hostess at her fabulous party last night! Thanks to all the ladies who came along, it was great to meet you all and to see you all creating, hope to nab some photos off Mary to pop on here soon. mary did well and earnt herself lots of hostess freebies and is now more than tempted to buy herself the Starter Kit and join Team Jelly!

So on to today's card. I seem to be having a bit of a thing for rub ons this week so had another go this morning! It's my nephew's birthday later this month so this is his card:

The image is from All in the Family, although I confess I drew the terrible 'rugby' ball! Alex plays tag rugby and is really good at it. I've used a mix of elements on here, card ribbon and accents from Celebrations Quick Accents pack, Celebrations papers and Bday party rub ons. Teamed up with Real Red and Pacific Point card.

I've even decorated the inside!!

If you read my post yesterday you will know that I took Zac to the hairdressers and promised to share the before and after photos. So, here's before:

And here he is sat in the hairdressers chair admiring himself in the mirror! He even had some wax put on to style is and loved the attention!

He got up this morning and saw himself in the mirror and said 'Mummy Zac's had his hair cut. Zac looks perfect now'! Hmmm such vanity at three years of age.
