Chaos resumes

Aargh - Blake now has a streaming cold. So no doubt we'll all get it now as a special Christmas gift from him! Bring on the tissues and paracetamol - boo hiss.

Anyway, 'tis Wednesday and time for a Christmas snoop around fellow crafters desks, starting with the Queen of snoop herself Julia - who by the way has a waaaaay to tidy desk this week! unlike mine....

It's only chaos to the outside eye - I know exactly what's going on and where! I've been working on some personalised Christmas cards (the red and white ones to the left) and a pile of cards and stuff I'm not allowed to show you until the new year - carefully hidden under the white paper!! Other than that, honestly it's really tidy!! Here's a close up of the cards:

I'm working on so many different projects at the moment, I'm hoping for lots of crafting time over Christmas. My theory is - wire the Hubby up to the X-box, plant the kids in front of some chocolate, the Disney channel and their Christmas toys and none of them will notice me sneaking upstairs to my room of craft! As long as I nip down periodicaly to change nappies and provide snacks and meals I think I should get away with it!

Oh - to make these cards I've used Real Red and Whisper White card, real red ink, the star punch, basic rhinestones, Just Perfect Alphabet stamps and the sentiment from Sparkly and Bright stamp set.

A Blue Monster Mummy

Our challenge at Cupcake this week is actually for two weeks and the theme has been chosen by moi - it's 'thank you'.  I'm a very naughty Cupcake as not only did I forget to blog my cards yesterday, I also forgot to upload them to the team blog - so apologies to my fellow cupcakes!

Zac has become a bit of a fan of the Disney film Monsters Inc (which is fine by me as I love it too) and has developed a bit of a thing for blue monsters. Every day he goes behind the sofa and comes out telling me about the 'blue monster, Mummy - he's my friend'. So I had a stack of thank you cards to make for all the lovely gifts Zac got for his birthday and thought it would be fitting to feature blue monsters! Not quite James P Sullivan but he's happy enough with them!

I've stamped the monsters on to whisper white card and water coloured them using the aqua brush and Pacific Point blue ink - by pushing the ink pad together to get ink in the lid and using that as my pallette.

The patterned paper is from the Celebrations stack. I've used a sentiment from Trendy Trees stamp set, the monster is from Make a Monster and I've aslo used the Word Window and Modern label punches.

And for a bit of fun, here's me with the real James P Sullivan himself!!

When the film came out I worked at one of the companies who sponsored the film and was lucky enough to go to the film premiere and the after show party too. I can tell you, this monster may look cute, but he'd definately been drinking beer and eating something with garlic in!! It's not such a good photo as it's been scanned in but it makes me giggle every time I look at it. Mainly 'cos I look so much younger!!!

Lots of stars

Still on a mission to cram in making lots of last minute Christmas cards I made these this morning:

I've used Real Red for the base card and layered with Whisper White. Sentiment stamped in Real Red from the Sparkly and Bright stamp set and a punched star and rhinestone gem to finish.

I took Zac to the hairdressers earlier, he was very good and sat still - with the help of the chocolate gingerbread Christmas tree biscuit I bought as a bribe! Now we are going to have a good sort out and then tonight put the Christmas decorations and tree up so when the boys get up in the morning it will be a lovely surprise for them.

Get the flock outta here

Well, after my plans to make my own Christmas cards went very wrong whilst on holiday and the weekend we got back, I thought I'd give it a go to see if I can at least get some made in time. So as I'm feeling 100% better today, I set about my first batch. I've had to keep it simple so I can set up my craft 'conveyor belt' system to get them done on the kitchen floor so I can craft and keep an eye on my boys at the same time - without fear of them trying to help Mummy out!

I really like these ones, I didn't have any plans for how they would look but was determined to use the gorgeous patterned flock paper from the Christma Cocoa DSP pack that you can get with the Welcome Christmas Bundle. Remember you still have until the 30th December to order your Christmas bundles to get your mitts on some free rolls of ribbon. Ideal to order now and make an early start on your cards for next year (hmm - should take my own advice here!). Here's one of the cards:

I've used the Ornament Punch to create the baubles and tied a small amount of silver Elastic Thread across the top and popped on a yummy rhinestone for a bit of Christmas bling! The sentiment is from the Contempo Christmas stamp set, stamped in Real Red on to Whisper White card.

And as for the flock element - check out this scrumy paper:

It's certainly one of those papers where you want one lot to use and the other to keep and stroke! Or is that just me that does that????

We had a bit of snow yesterday and have more forecast for the weekend, hoping not too much as we want to take the boys out somewhere to make up for their spoilt holiday. Fingers crossed......

WOYWW and a holiday update

No cards to show you today as I haven't been well enough to create since before we went to Center Parcs. So not wanting to miss out on the fun with Julia over at Stamping Ground, here's what's on my desk today:

I've still got lots of Christmas cards to make for myself so hoping to feel well enough tonight to get creative. You can just see a few bits of coloured card to the left where Zac has been playing, here's a close up:

I think he's going to favour the clean and simple style myself. Finally I thought being as all I seem to have done is complain about how ill we got with suspected food poisoning whilst we were away that I'd share some of the images of our first few days which were great fun:

Well me and the boys have managed some breakfast and a drink this morning so that's a great improvement, fingers crossed we'll be fully recovered soon. the only advantage to being to unwell so far is that Zac was erm, shall we say very ill on his dummy and hasn't asked for a new one and oh I lost 11.5lbs in three days!

Hope you're all well.

Still time to order for Christmas

I'm sorry for my absence, firstly my family took a short break last week to Center Parcs - we'd been looking forward to it for ages but we all got very ill whilst we were there and are recovering now. Samples are being analysed to see if we had food poisoning or some sort of bug. Two Drs have said food poisoning so far. Either way, I've never felt so ill in my life and am glad to be on the mend - albeit 11.5lbs lighter!

Some fabulous news though, some of you know my Brother and his Girlfriend had some news last Friday, their first baby - Evan was born, following much difficulty during a traumatic birth, he'd inhaled muconium and has an incredibly tough first week of life in NICU. Thankfully, Evan is now much stronger and once his feeding is balanced will be able to go home with his Mummy and Daddy. So congratulations from me to Gareth and Claire on the birth of your most beautiful and precious little boy - Evan Miles. I've seen some photos and cannot wait to give my nephew a great big cuddle and to introduce him to his cousins.

So on to Stampin' Up! I thought I'd share a DT card I made for this month's challenge over at ILWS and that was to make a one layer card. I used snowflakes from various sets and masked off an area of card before stamping them randomly in the area. FInished off with a rhinestone gem and a sentiment from Occasional Greetings.

Thank you to all of you who have ordered this month, including those of you who sent me your wish lists! I bet you can't wait to find out if your wishes are going to come true! Well some certainly are - with bells on!!! If you want to order with me, please contact me today or tomorrow as orders placed by tomorrow will reach you in time for Christmas.

I'm looking forward to catching up on your blogs and reading your news.

Aliens have landed

How they got here through the snow is beyond me! This is one of the cards I made for this months challenge at In Love With Stamping. It's for the colour combo challenge and the combo is to use, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Old Olive. I decided to have a bit of fun:

I've made the space ship using one of the treat cups and stamp set Make a Monster. Coloured with Markers and used a white gel pen for the spots. The sentiment is using Basic Phrases. Just noticed one of the gems is missing and one isn't here on the photo, I must have moved the card before I let it dry first - ooops!

We had a smidge more snow last night and hubby said the thermometer on the van read as minus 10 this morning. I'm staying put with the heating on - I'm so nesh! Lots to do today, I've got my all day sale and Stampin' Up! event on Sunday to carry on prepping for. I hope you can make it, I have loads for sale including die cutters and dies! You can come and try Stampin' Up! products for free at my make and take area and see some demonstrations too.
