Craft Fair and Scentsy Display Idea

Oh my giddy aunt - have I really gone for a whole month without one single blog post? Oops, my bad. I promise to do better, in the meantime why not pop over and visit my Facebook page which I do update rather a lot....

Anyhoo, back to the blog. Recently I've attended lots of craft fairs and have been asked by fellow stallholders and attendees alike how I made by display. So I thought it would be nice to share it here with you. Firstly here's how my set up stand looks with all my fabric goodies:

Using the same stuff at another event here is my Scentsy stall:

I've tried loads of ideas to add height to my stalls without almost breaking my back to get it there - including book shelves, shoe racks and these just work out the best things for me and they fold to store too. Bonus! So, where from and how to get them looking like this:

They are small step ladders from ...Ikea. Here are the various stages of putting them together. Starting with me having more tuts than an episode of Skippy assembling them. Jelly and flat pack are not a good combination, even when I steal tools from The Spark to help me. I sat on the kitchen floor for quite a while and was amazed to have no extra bits left over - that NEVER happens!

Next I relocated to the kids playroom - for fear of splashing paint on my shiny white kitchen units or the floor and getting into more trouble than you can shake a stick at. Kids rug upside down plus cut open bin liners seemed a safe enough option. Then on with the paint - upside down to start.

I will admit to wanting to do things quickly and I was very tempted to use chalk paint to do these. Thing is I have a bit of an issue touching anything that feels chalky - it goes 'through me' and so I opted for this stuff instead as it has a silky smooth feel to it and still goes on to wood without having to prime or use undercoat. In fact - look in the background of the photo and you'll see the boys table and chairs painted with the same stuff. No need to waste left over paint (I've even done my desk with it!).

Is this post as much fun as watching paint dry? A Minion appears to have lost the will to live......

Fast forward to finished!

Now they are done, they've had loads of use already and they didn't cost a fortune, they fold flat, they work for both my businesses and every home needs ladders right?

Joining Scentsy in October

One day two posts - I know!

New Baby Card and Gift Set

Good morning on another lovely sunny day here in Nottingham (enjoying a late summer). I'm grabbing myself a few minutes on the pooter whilst Blake is asleep - poor lad got diagnosed with the flu on Monday so he's having a few days off school resting until we can get his temperature down.

I've been wanting to share this with you for a while but as I hadn't given it to it's recipient I couldn't. I know it's arrived safely now so at last............my lovely friend Lou had a gorgeous baby boy George recently and I made a card and matching gift for him. Here's the card:

The card took me forever to design as I wanted it to match the gift and I just couldn't get it right at all. My mojo had defo gone for a walkabout when it came to making this. I've used all Stampin' Up! products, some current some retired and one set is a Christmas stamp set!

Here's the gift, a sleeping bag for baby George:

I didn't have a pattern or follow a tutorial for this one, I really winged it - including guessing the size - hope it fits! I adore this fabric and bought it from my favourite fabric supplier The Faff Room. I saw the fabric and knew it would be perfect for this so bought it without thinking about how I would make it.

Here are a couple of close ups of the card.  Did some therapeutic colouring in and cutting out here.

Also close ups of the baby sleeping bag, I adore these giant buttons, wish Stampin' Up! still did them. I cut out a tree from the main fabric and appliquéd it on to the bib - the whole thing is lined with a gorgeous organic cotton fabric with super cute paw prints on.

Finally I made a little oval decoration to match on the hanger. 

I'll admit I found this a bit tricky to photograph so I hope I've shown it off OK.

Birthday Present and Blog Candy Giveaway!!!

Sunday already - where did my weekend go? We didn't make it to see my Mum today so James took Blake to the supermarket, gosh we spoil that boy ha,ha and whilst Zac chilled out, I made up some more Scentsy wax samples to post out - if you want some to try too, just drop me an email at:

More importantly - the birthday present. I like to make and I like to give things I've made and this is no exception:

It's one of my cute fabric snails I shared with you a few posts ago and a card made from some free stamps I got. I did some paper piecing and some colouring too - takes me right back to my childhood and getting lost for hours with my colouring books, very therapeutic I must say and it still is.

So the rest of my day involves finishing cooking the roast and of course eating it, packing up those fragrance samples and parcelling up some of my Stampin' Up! stash that I've sold. I still have some left - if you want to take a look they are all in albums on my facebook page HERE.

Now something I haven't done in what seems like AGES is .....

Fabric Sausage Dogs

Happy Saturday, hope you're having a great start to the weekend? We're all still ridden with colds but trying to ignore it and have fun - as I type the boys are playing hide and seek. I'm not sure they're doing it very well as I can hear them shouting at each other to say where they are hiding.

I'm not managing to smuggle in any creating today as it's a family day so sharing some previous makes with you, I haven't shared them here before so I could get away with saying I whipped them up earlier but I suspect you wouldn't believe me.

I am loving rekindling my love of fabric and sewing and these cuties were an absolute delight to make, I love their little noses and long floppy ears:

Each one of course comes with it's own bone!

They're a great size too, over 30cm long.

Love to stay and chat but I'm under instructions now to build a train track starting in the lounge and worming it's way through the dining area and into the kitchen. Blake wants it done - and before Daddy gets home from work too so I had better get my skates on.

Butterfly Birthday Card and a warmer too.

Gosh it's so dull again here today in Nottingham. Still as misty and damp as when we woke up. Something pretty is needed to brighten my day so here is a special card I made yesterday:

It's my Mums Birthday next week so I'm getting ahead of myself. I wanted to make something pretty with a vintage feel to it so had to go for a rummage through my stash. I've used all sorts on here from the lid of a Kraft box to elements from a mini album kit and a chevron bag. Everything is from Stampin' Up! though - present or retired.

I love the acetate in the box lid with the matt layers of vellum then the shiny glimmer card. Lots of different textures to feast your eyes on.

Hoping so much to get to go and see Mum on Sunday, it's not looking hopeful at the moment as both the boys and I have horrible colds and my step dad has to be really careful around germs, partially due to his age but also because he has chronic leukaemia (CLL) and whilst he's not undergoing treatment, germs could change all that. My Mum is also in remission from breast cancer so no way do they want our lurgy! We're crossing everything that we'll be rid of our colds or it will be mid October before we can get together again. At least I have time to pop this in the post and get it there on time.

On a positive note, can I say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken an interest in my Scentsy adventures so far. I sent out many shiny purple envelopes yesterday and today with fragrance wax samples in (please see my previous post if you want to know how to get one too). I hope when they land on your doorsteps you enjoy opening them and sniffing your way through the goodies inside.

As we're on a bit of a butterfly theme, I thought I'd take the opportunity to share another Scentsy warmer with you:

This is our Etched Core warmer with Butterfly wrap. I love how when it's switched it creates a beautiful warm glow of light - just like a candle. It's such a versatile warmer too as you can get different wraps for it to change the look:

Sharing Scentsy - want some in the post?

OK - today I'm going to tell you a bit about my new venture. Actually it's not so new as I've been busy with it for over a year now, but the time feels right to do more with it and share it here. So...what is Scentsy?

Introducing Scout and Stella Scentsy buddies

I think I should introduce you to the two newest arrives in my home. Scout and Stella. OK strictly speaking it's three new arrivals as I have two of Scout (they are for Zac and Blake for Christmas).

These gorgeous squishy and cuddly things are limited edition in the range of buddies available over in my Scentsy shop. They are CE tested and suitable for all ages from birth.

So what are they? Other than being super soft and adorable they actually have a hidden zipper in their backs where you can add your choice of Scentsy Fragrance Scent Pak.

There are 27 different scents available in this range, including Newborn Nursery which smells just like baby talc! My personal favourite is Pima Cotton which to me is the ideal smell of crisp clean washing. I have one of these hanging in my wardrobe and I love the fragrance that greets me each time I open the door, also love how the fragrance somehow clings to my clothes too. The Spark always has a Scent Pak in his van - you know to get rid of the whiff of smelly electrician!

Colouring on Kraft Card Photo Tutorial

Ah, it's been a busy morning for me, parcelling up craft goodies to send out and also Scentsy fragrance packages too - all go! So I wanted to do a spot of creating to chill out once my jobs for the day were done.

Do you know I sat down and wasn't sure what to do! Since I resigned from my Stampin' Up! demonstrator role, I just create for me as and when I want rather than to showcase new products etc. Sometimes I'm finding Jelly gets a little bit stuck! Then I remembered before the likes of Pinterest what I used to do when I got stuck.....join in a blog challenge. I turned to one of the ones I really used to enjoy taking part in Less is More and saw today's challenge is to create a one layer card featuring a beverage. Fabulous.

I have the perfect stamp, I got it free with a magazine and at last a reason to ink it up:

I've used Crumb cake card and rounded off the corners and stamped my image and sentiment too. I thought I'd show you how to create the look so if it's new to you, you can have a go too.

Stamp the image and then use a craft white ink pad and a blender pen to colour in the image and wait to dry (or cheat and use a heat tool if you're an impatient so and so like me).

Use any pens to colour the image, I've used a mix of markers and alcohol pens.

I wasn't quite happy with the finish so I used a chalk pen to add some polka dots to the tea cup - much happier!

Of course thanks to them inspiring me I'm popping in to the Less is More challenge too, why not join in?

I'm off to watch a Thomas the Tank Engine film now and get plenty of snuggles, Zac and Blake both have colds and coughs and aren't up to much today, the joys of a new school year.

Thank You cards and a photo tutorial

Happy Friday everyone, cute as can be, I've just sat down in the Room of Craft - which is on the first floor and I sit facing the window. Just as i looked up a blue tit was on a tree branch looking in, I just wasn't fast enough with my camera - maybe another time?

So today I have some thank you cards to share with you. When I make one I figure it's easier to just make a whole batch up as I'm always needing them:

I've used Summer Silhouettes from Stampin' Up! I LOVE this set as it's so versatile. Here are some of the cards together:

Want to see how to create them for yourself? It's really simple and you could use any stamp set really too. These are 3" square cards to I cut square of white card measuring 2 3/4" and covered up two thirds with a piece of scrap paper. The inks I've used are Coastal Cabana, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Pistachio Pudding and Elegant Eggplant.

Pick a stamp at a time and stamp each card in roughly the same place, there's no need for accuracy - unless you're really fussy about that sort of thing!

 Just keep going, layering the images over each other until you're happy with the end result.

I added a thank you sentiment and then using a marker, drew a border around each layer before popping them on a card base. Simples.

Looking forward to sending these cuties out. Got a packed day today, I have parcels to send out, chores to do (yawns!), then I need to sort out some Scentsy fragrance samples to send out and most exciting of all I have Scentsy delivery coming and it's all stuff from the new Autumn / Winter catalogue.

Scentsy Packaging and a fun weekend

Oh my word, we have just had the BEST family weekend of the Summer holidays. Before I share that with you I'm going to show you a pretty little package I created:

Do you like it? I designed it to fit perfectly around a Scentsy fragrance wax bar, I thought it would make a super gift for one of my party hostesses. 

I made it with a circle window to give a sneak peek of the contents, it's nice to tease - although here I'm letting you see the wax bar.

I adore pretty packaging, I think it makes a gift so much more exciting to receive and adding the sparkle and bling makes it loads more appealing.

 Did you know you can use your alcohol pens to colour rhinestone gems, pearls and even glimmer card? I coloured my sparkle here to coordinate with the card I used.

We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on Friday and following on from our adventures last year we returned as a family to celebrate at Legoland Windsor. I adore these photos of Zac and Blake taken in the car when they realised where they were - we had told them we were travelling to a wedding!

 

And here we are outside the Legoland hotel - we booked in to a pirate room for the night, ooh aaargh!

I always end up buying some of the photos from the rides, especially now as you can download them too, here we are on the magical Story Brook boat ride.

Finally a shocker of a photo but so funny I just had to have it - Zac and I on the Pirate Falls log flume, Zac's hood fell back just as we descended the last flume and he got absolutely soaked, he was not a happy chappy I can tell you. The poor ride attendant gave him a Lego badge to cheer him up. he soon dried off though as we were so fortunate with the weather.

I took over 200 photos so I promise not to bore you with them all but I will be creating lots of scrapbook projects with my favourites.
